Midnight Fairy and Moon Friends Wreath: Bamboo, Polymer Clay, Foliage
True friendship endures all...looking up into the night sky the Moon may seem to be alone and out of reach. Lo and behold, a tiny fairy reaches out in the only way she knows...by offering a beautiful gift of flowers and her love to her friend, Moon.
About The Wreath:
The inspiration for this wreath came from an evening while working at my desk. It was late and I took pause to just look out the window and notice the night sky. The moon was big and bright...breath-taking indeed. I imagined it being alone and how that might feel. I decided then and there to reach out in the only way that I know and that is through my art. I gathered my tools and materials and began to sketch out my vision. I then began to choose which foliage would work best. I decided that there should be a lighter side which represents the moon's reflection and so lighter colored flowers are on the left with sprinkles of green leaves. To the right are darker purple hued flower with green leaves as accents. The moon, shaped out of polymer clay gazes down at the fairy in surprise and wonder. The fairy is tucked within the petals of a blue flower and she holds up tiny flowers to her newfound friend...Moon. When there is light reflected on the wreath, you will find a beautiful surprise when the wreath is in darkness....it glows softly (intensity depends on how long light has been shown on the wreath itself). To intensify the glow, merely point a light source (flashlight?) at the wreath: for example, I just tilt the direction of my work lamp at it for a couple of minutes...please make sure the wreath is NOT touching a heat source or is close to it....merely hang it in a location that there will be lighting so basically any room with a lamp. Please use common sense for safety purposes.
About the Fairy:
Tiny fairy is shaped out of polymer clay, her dress and shoes are painted with acrylic paint, her hair is created out of soft wool. Her flowers are shaped out of polymer clay as well.
